As More Families Look for Ways to Reunite, Adventure Vacations Are Garnering Attention

Many adults are returning to their roots. While some cut their teeth in the woods, caught their first fish in a mountain stream, and took their first hike shortly after they learned to walk, many have never spent enough
time in pure nature to become comfortable. However, an increasing number are connecting or reconnecting with the outdoors.

Why The Renewed Interest?

New studies show the benefits of outdoor recreation. While children have been the primary subject, studies are revealing cross-generational rewards. Many green groups are stressing the need to develop the next generation of caretakers. Furthermore, our new administration has expressed interest in promoting interaction between people and nature. Thus a new trend is beginning; family's interested in nature. An adventure vacation is a great way to enjoy nature together.

Why An Adventure Vacation?

Adventure vacations do more than strengthen our ties with our natural surroundings. They also intensify family bonds. An adventure vacation takes us out of our comfort zone. This does not mean you have to scale rock walls, take on class four rapids, or hike deep into the wilderness without adequate provisions. It does mean you will go without some of the 'norms' – central heat and air, cell phones, lap tops, and the like. It also means you will spend time outside your natural environment.

The more you up the ante, the more your adventure vacation will test each family member's mettle. As you face difficulties, discomforts or unfamiliar situations, your family will be forced to exercise team spirit. As you work together your family bond will be enhanced.

Most adventure vacations come with someone else to do the work. When someone else handles the chores, every family member gets to relax. This frees you to play together. It provides time to renew and reopen communication. While an vacation can offer of this benefit, adventure vacation also add other bonuses.

God Loves You So Much

Sitting down in a chair, she leans over to rest her elbows on the table and covers her face with her hands. She inhales deep and holds her breath. As she exhales slowly, she hopes that somehow calmness will overtake the
pain from the lump she feels forming in the back of her throat. Too weak to hold out hope any longer for the calm to come, the tears break free and stream down her face.

Many nights that was me, after hanging up the phone with my Mom after hearing her say those words God Loves You So Much. Why? Why me? There's so many people out there that have so much more to offer Him than I did. Besides, we were only on speaking terms when I was desperate and He was my only way out. I didn't want Him to do anything for me that I could handle myself because I thought I could control the outcome. Doing things His way in the past ended up being painful and almost more than I could bear. Instead of waiting for God to restore my joy, I searched for things that I thought would bring me joy. It's funny now how I had more faith in people making me happy “forever” until my relationships would come to an abrupt halt and of course, end up being painful and almost more than I could bear and then those words…God Loves You So Much. With the pain they brought comfort as well, because I knew that He did indeed love me as shown by the life I had experienced when He was literally almost all I had.

He doesn't want me to live my life with guilt and shame, anger and bitterness. He wants me to live life to it's fullest because that's what gives Him glory, that's why He made us and that's why He loves us. Sometimes we can't see the good because we've let things get in the way to distract us and keep us from seeing. We're already martyrs for Jesus, why do we insist on martyring ourselves? It could be so that in the day we are persecuted for our faith, we will have endurance to stand and not faint. There has to be a time that we get past that if we truly are going to be able to have that endurance and be more effective in what He's called us to do.

Easy Kid Dining in Raleigh

My husband and I were new to the Raleigh area three years ago. We had a 2 year old daughter and one on child on the way and we were lookig for easy places to eat. Since then we have a new son and
three children under the age of six and have become the resident experts on kid friendly restaurants.

Okay here are the obvious…kids always love Chuck E Cheese but do you? And even if you do, how much pizza can you eat? a Usually the children don't sit still long enough to eat anything, so it's you and that yummy pizza!
Bullwinkles is another place here in the area with much better food, better selection, cleaner, and better games, but once again, how much of this can an adult take?

We have found some great solutions to these often daunting predicaments.

O'Charley's, O'Charley's, O'Charley's. This restaurant is awesome for any amount of children of any age! The childrens menu has so many great choices from fried shrimp, macaroni and cheese, pizza, hamburgers, chicken tenders and mini corn dogs for entrees, and this doesn't include the sides that come with it. The broccoli side is so good it taught all three of my kids to love those little green florets. If your kids are not into the broccoli, they also have french fries and fruit cups. The drinks come with the meal and it really is enough food to feed an adult at lunch. If all this sounds too good to be true, it gets better. The kids  meals are completely free and they are very, very friendly about it and will even bring your kids balloons to the table. This place is by far our first choice every time.

Which are ur favorite recipes?

Posted in food on April 12th, 2010

Eh, this thing's for lightweights. After all, if any of you have ever reached into a bucket of KFC, how often have you stopped after two pieces? Sure, the bacon and cheese add to the lethality, but come on already. Wendy's Baconator features two quarter-pound beef patties, two slices of “cheese,” and six strips of bacon. Sounds nearly reasonable to a red-blooded arteriosclerotic American, but that sucker will erode your lifespan to the tune of 970 calories and over 2200 mg of sodium. Burger King's Double Stacker hits you with 560 calories… and that's the small one. The Quad Stacker has a full 1000.

Y'all oughta swing by the corner of Lake Ave and Boylston St in Pasadena, CA sometime. You will find Roscoe's Chicken & Waffles right next door to a KFC, with a Popeye's Chicken, McDonald's, and Burger King all within waddling distance. And right across the street is Orean Health Express, an actual vegetarian fast-food drive-thru. I must add that I have never, ever seen a single at their window.

Dear God: KFC's Chicken-as-Bread Sandwich Is Coming

Are you looking to commit suicide very slowly with food? KFC is here to help! Its new Double Down sandwich is coming to a KFC sad factory near you on April 12th.

You see, it's a sandwich, but instead of bread it uses fried fucking chicken. And in between those two pieces of fried chicken? Bacon and cheese, of course. And what looks like a mayonnaise of some sort, just to add some more fat to the equation.

The sandwich will be available in two forms. The Original Recipe sandwich will set you back about 540 calories, 32g of fat and 1380mg of sodium. The not-as-bad-for-you Grilled Double Down totals 460 calores, 23g of fat and 1430mg of sodium.

This seems like the sort of thing that should be taxed highly to pay for health care, no? Because anyone who eats this on a regular basis will be requiring hospital visits, guaranteed.

Legally cultivating medicinal MJ is the best! Every time a new round of crops comes around…you can only learn more from them every time! Besides that…the babies you care for and raise until death only see you as their God anyway…what else would believe that?!?!

A few words from the charming bride-to-be:

I really wanted a vintage, country feel and our photographers captured what I wanted perfectly. We used Brandon’s grandfather’s truck that had been passed down to him. It’s still in great condition and it was special that we could use it for the photos. The funky, blue chair was my great grandmother’s, and I’m glad that we could incorporate it as well. We chose to take the pictures in Tenaja, CA which is where my family home is. I’ve always loved the huge oak trees, and thought it would make the perfect setting for our engagement pictures. We had such a good time shooting these pictures. Greg and Tim from Brightwood Photography did a wonderful job!

A wonderful job indeed! Thanks so much for getting my goat today (in a good way, of course).

XOXO, (the other) Abby from Life in the Super Burbs
